Office of Congressional Workplace Rights

Come join the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights (OCWR)! For more than two decades, the OCWR has worked tirelessly to advance the principles of the Congressional Accountability Act (CAA), which protects the rights of legislative branch employees to work in an accessible and safe environment free from harassment, discrimination, and reprisal. The CAA requires Congress and legislative branch entities to follow many of the same employment and workplace safety laws that apply to the private sector and the executive branch of the federal government. The OCWR educates covered employees and employing offices on their rights and responsibilities under the Congressional Accountability Act, provides a neutral and an independent process for resolving alleged violations, enforces access for people with disabilities, and inspects legislative branch facilities for compliance with occupational safety and health standards.
