St. John's University

No university is an island, but one of St. John's campuses is on Manhattan Island. A private, co-educational Roman Catholic school, St. John's University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in more than 100 majors through five colleges, a law school, and a distance learning program. St. John's has more than 20,000 students at five campuses (Queens, Staten Island and Manhattan in New York City, one in Oakdale, New York, and one graduate center in Rome). The school has a 17-to-1 student-faculty ratio. More than 80% of its graduates reside in the New York region, including notable alumni such as former New York governors Hugh Carey and Mario Cuomo. The school was founded in 1870 by the Vincentian Community. View More Arrow
